Description

These Classic Chocolate Chunk Cookies are crispy on the edges, yet chewy and soft in the middle with chunks of melty chocolate in every bite.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 stick (8 tbsp) unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks or chocolate chips
  • Optional: Sea salt for the tops of cookies

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy about 2-3 minutes. Beat in the egg until combined, add the vanilla beating until light and creamy. Add the flour, baking soda and salt and mix until just combined, scraping the sides and bottom of the bowl if necessary. Fold in the chocolate chunks.
  3. Using a cookie scoop or roll dough into 1 1/2-2 tablespoons and place a few inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Transfer to the oven and bake 12-15 minutes until lightly golden brown. Remove from the oven and lightly tap on the counter to slightly flatten them. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes. Optional: sprinkle a little sea salt on top. Best enjoyed warm but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Enjoy!
